The Project, “The Specific Environmental Protection Service Industry Survey, 2010” was commissioned by Environmental Protection Administration of Executive Yuan. It aims to establish the basic service capability and the statistical data regarding the operation status of the specific environmental protection industry. The subjects included nationwide pathogen control services, waste disposal and collection services, resource recycling services, environmental analysis services authorized by and registered at the administration authority. Questionnaires employed in this survey were mailed to the subjects. The brief summaries and conclusions of the survey are as follows: 1. There were 3,662 specific environmental protection service industry at the end of 2009. The major of the business in the industry were private-owned. 2. There were 26,263 employees in the specific environmental protection service industry at the end of 2009; the annual salary per employee was NT$339,735 dollars. 3. The specific environmental protection service industry generated a total income of NT$110.26 billion in 2009; total expenditure of NT$80.50 billion. 4. Only 5.7% of the specific environmental protection service industry had the international certificate. 5. 46.3% of the enterprises in the specific environmental protection service industry considered their business will become worse in 2010 than in 2009. 6. The main operation bottleneck of the specific environmental protection service industry was “business competition”.
